Wexford projects benefit from website pledges

OVER €6,000 in funding has been raised for Wexford based creative projects through crowdfunding website 'Fund It'. Last year over €632,000 was pledged by the public to various projects around the country ranging from art, design, music and fashion to technology and film.

Wexford projects who have already benefitted from using 'Fund It' include Joey Ryan who raised over €2,000 to fund the recording of an album, Chuckys River who raised a similar figure to record their debut album and also €2500 was raised to put on a performance entitled 'No matter where you go, there you are.'

Stuart Mclaughlin of Fund it has commented that the high levels of pledges and successful projects funded through the website in the first year should encourage more project creators from County Wexford to seek financing in this way. "We are delighted with the success which Fund It has experienced in its first year.

"Fund It is a truly innovative service because many of these projects may not have been able to take place if this method of financing was not available.

"It is striking to note that 20% of the pledges made through the website come from outside Ireland and this represents a previously untapped source of financing for the creative community in Ireland which project creators in County Wexford should take advantage of."
