Wexford says Yes to marriage equality

Tallies from the Marriage Referendum election count in Wexford show that Wexford voted overwhelmingly in favour of marriage equality.

With half of the boxes open Wexford is returning a 65 per cent Yes vote. The first boxes opened and counted were that of North Wexford and the Yes vote in the Gorey urban area may be as high as 70 per cent.

Fianna Fail TD John Browne say the voting patterns show 'democracy at its best. It's a changing Ireland' while Fianna Fail's Malcolm Byrne who was heavily involved in the Yes campaign said that based on current trends he expects every single box in the constituency to return a Yes majority.
