former Mayor George Lawlor says his newly-released Facebook recording of the late Tom Williams' composition of 'Cuchulainn's Son', has already had several thousand views from throughout Ireland and across the world.
'I was doing it for myself privately and hadn't any intention of releasing.. then I spoke with my good friend Liam Bates, who I did Lord of Love with, about the possibility of doing an orchestral arrangement,' said George, whose vocal talents are well recognised in his hometown.
He said he went to Liam's studio in Grange, Kilmore, and when he he heard 'how good the orchestration was and how brilliantly he had done' he decided it deserved a wider audience.
The next step was a call to Ted Moran, formely of Highwind Media, who created the video footage.
'I also recorded Boolavogue which I'll be releasing further down the line,' said George.
He said that since being released last Tuesday (January 3), it had thousands of views, from all over Ireland and as far afield as Australia and the USA. Tom Williams wrote 'Cuchulainn's Son' in honour of the late Wexford hurling great Nickey Rackard. You can watch and hear the recording at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zInKWfztHbQ&sns=em
