Local kids were getting crafty recently at the Amazing Irish World Records Workshop in Wexford library.

As part of the annual Summer Reading Challenge, local artist Ilva Krama joined the children for an afternoon of arts and crafts. To coincide with this year's theme, 'Record Breakers', the workshop was based around record-breaking and achievement.

The group took part in drawing and painting exercises and were challenged to make their own certificates of achievement, flowers and medals.

'Great fun was had by everyone,' said Clare Kelly, Assistant Librarian at Wexford Library.

The workshop was one of many events due to take place in libraries across Wexford as part of the Summer Reading Challenge. According to Clare, the challenge was established to encourage children to read over the holidays.

'They are tasked with reading at least six books,' she explained. 'The main aim is to ensure they keep up to speed with their reading.'
