Wexford's slippery gutters 'don't appear to be safe'
WEXFORD councillor George Lawlor has asked council engineers to see if a non-slip surface can be put on the smooth concrete gutters than run along Main Street following a spate of accidents involving pedestrians during wet weather.
Cllr Lawlor said he spoke to the engineers last week after a woman had to be taken to hospital following a fall, the latest in a series of such incidents.
'Something needs to be done about the problem as quickly as possible. People are losing their footing on these gutters. They look very good, but don't appear to be safe,' he said.
