AN annual ceremony for family members and friends of those who have lost their lives through suicide took place at Crescent Quay recently. The ceremony took the form of a wreath laying instead of a balloon release because of concerns over the impact of balloons on the environment. Tanya Fenelon, from suicide prevention and awareness group REACH, said that with Fr Denis Doyle blessing the wreaths it was 'quite an emotional occason'. Cllr Davy Hynes, from 'It's Good to Talk', spoke about the scourge of suicide in Wexford and of the services that are available locally. There have been no suicides in Wexford Harbour since the establishment of MarineWatch.
