Young man clocked at 60 km/h over limit
DRIVING 60 km/h over the speed limit on the N11 outside Wexford town has earned a young Gorey man a €250 fine.
Adrian Doyle, of Loggan, Gorey appeared before Wexford District Court last week charged with careless driving at Newcastle, Crossabeg, on September 16, 2009.
Inspector Pat McDonald said that Doyle was detected travelling at a speed of 160 km/h on the N11 at 11.25 p.m. – close to Ferrycarrig Park, home of Wexford Youths.
Tim Cummings, for Doyle, said his client realised it was an 'unacceptable speed'.
He said Doyle, who has no previous convictions, was in court with his parents and has learnt his lesson. Mr Cummings said the defendant had served an apprenticeship with the ESB, but is currently unemployed.
Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla convicted Doyle of careless driving and fined him €250, but refrained from imposing a driving ban.
