Young man was driving at 50 km/h over the limit

'THANKS BE to God nobody walked out in front of him or pushed out a pram in front of him', said Judge Patrick Clyne last week while dealing with a man who was driving more than 50km/h over the legal limit.

Shane O'Grady (20), Haremeade, Foulksmills, Wexford was charged with careless driving at Ballyhackbeg, St. Leonard's, New Ross on October 9, 2011.

Inspector Pat McDonald said O'Grady was clocked driving at 130km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Acting for O'Grady solicitor Colette Culleton said O'Grady had been trying to make the ferry on the day in question as he was on the way to Waterford Regional Hospital to visit a relation.

' Thanks be to God nobody walked out in front of him or pushed out a pram in front of him', said Judge Patrick Clyne.

He directed O'Grady to pay €250 to the court poor box.
