RTE All Ireland Champions Bridge Drama return to the National Opera House on Sunday (May 22) for one night only with their multi-award winning play 'Lost in Yonkers' by Neil Simon.
The group were crowned winners of the RTE All Ireland Drama Finals on May 7 in Athlone with Adjudicator Padraic McIntyre hailing the show as a 'powerful production' with plenty of pace, energy and all the humour of Neil Simon's writing, while at the same time realising the sad and ugly underbelly of a world of withheld emotion. The group also secured the Best Director Award for Pat Whelan and Best Set.
Having already played 13 sell out shows in Wexford, such is the demand, the show will take to the O'Reilly Theatre, the main stage of the National Opera House for the groups final performance of 'Lost in Yonkers.'
The cast agree that it will be an 'emotional goodbye' to the characters that they have inhabited for sometime now and to a play that has brought the groups dream of winning the All Ireland to fruition.
'It's a year that Bridge Drama will never forget,' says Mairead Ryan, PRO for the group, 'We have had the time of our lives and feel that playing on the O'Reilly stage is an appropriate ending to a fantastic journey.'
Bridge Drama have been honoured by Mayor Ger Carthy who is awarding the group a Civic Reception. Tickets for the show are available www.nationaloperahouse.ie or phone 053 9122144.
