'Club Dancing' finals to be held on Sunday night

RIVALS ON the playing pitch and now rivals on the dance floor -Wexford GAA clubs will battle it out for the title of Strictly Come Dancing Champions in Whites Hotel on Sunday night next, October 28.

Stepping it out are couples representing the Shelmaliers, Volunteers and Glynn Barntown.

There has been a huge response to this novel fundraising event since the three GAA clubs took up the challenge two months ago.

After weeks of training in the cha cha, tango, buchata, salza and jive along with nail-biding heats, the top couples are ready to face the final.

Each club held separate competitions to choose their representatives for the grasnd final.

Large and enthusiastic audiences attended the preliminary shows.

Doors open on Sunday next at 7.15 p.m. and dancing kicks off at 8 p.m. sharp.

5 GREYHOUND RACE NIGHT CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL FUNDRAISER. The annual Enniscorthy Christmas fundraising night at the dogs takes place this Thursday, September 21, at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track. Song project in Kilmuckridge 

5 LOCAL SONG PROJECT: Traditional singer Aileen Lambert will facilitate a new project focusing on exploring local songs and unaccompanied traditional singing in Kilmuckridge. Starting this Wednesday, September 13 from 7.30 p.m. in Bridie Hammel's Pub this project will take place over the course of a number of weeks. Local songs such as the Tinneaberna Fisherman will be researched and performed as part of the project and at the end a booklet will be produced along with videos featuring local songs and local singers.
