Danescastle Music Group and Bannow C.C.É. had great success at the Leinster Fleadh in Maynooth recently.

Over 50 members of the group qualified for the All Ireland Fleadh in Sligo which will take place in August.

The U12 group and band both took third place and were recommended to go forward to the All-Ireland Fleadh. Meanwhile the U18 and Senior Group took Second place and automatically qualified for the All-Ireland. It was great to see the Senior Group qualify as these musicians give generously of their time to the group, passing on their music to the younger members.

As well as success with the band and groups, members of the branch also had success in individual competitions. Those who received medals at the weekend are as follows: U/12 Results Caoimhe Moran 1st Harp Slow Airs and 1st Accompaniment, Diarmaid Murphy 1st Flute, 1st Flute Airs and 1st Whistling, Min Allen 1st Piano, Jamie Walsh 1st Mouth Organ, Eve Donohoe 2nd Tin Whistle Airs and 3rd Tin Whistle and recommended, Oliva Breen 2nd Lilting, Cillian Cullen 3rd Lilting, Lucy Fitzgerald 3rd Whistling, Aoife O'Dwyer second whistling.
