Fantastic weekend of top class music as Daytripper returns

Daytripper returns to Waterford for Year 3 in July for another weekend of fantastic live music at a purpose built outdoor event site at Bolton Street, right in the heart of the city's Viking Triangle.

UB40 headline on the Saturday with special guests Soul II Soul, while Maverick Sabre and The Darkness co-headline on the Sunday with support from The Riptide Movement and Smash Hits. There is a full support line up as always over the 2 days across 2 stages, with the first act taking to the stage at 6pm each day. Tickets (€39.50 per day / €60 weekend) are on sale now at and the Theatre Royal box office in Waterford ( 051 874402 )

UB40 (Saturday)

UB40 (featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey) play an exclusive 2015 Irish festival show at Daytripper. They are one of the UK's biggest bands of the last 30 year with worldwide sales to date of over 70 million. The Birmingham band brought reggae into the mainstream with huge Number 1 singles such as 'Red Red Wine', 'Kingston Town', 'Rat In Mi Kitchen', 'I Got You Babe' (with Chrissie Hynde) and 'Cherry Oh Baby'

SOUL II SOUL (Saturday)

Soul II Soul enjoyed huge chart success in the 80s and 90s, most notably with 'Keep On Movin' and 'Back To Life'. To date they have sold over 10 million albums worldwide and they have performed in over 20 countries, appearing at famous venues all over the globe. For this exclusive Irish summer show, Jazzie will be joined by his MC plus vocalist Caron Wheeler the instantly recognisable voice on those Soul II Soul smashes.

Maverick Sabre returns for a homecoming show to celebrate the release of his new summer anthem 'Walk Into The Sun' and upcoming second album, 'Innerstanding'. The album follows on from the massive global success of 'Lonely Are The Brave' in 2012. Having grown up in New Ross, Mav is delighted to include Daytripper in his 2015 summer plans alongside V Festival, Wireless and Creamfields.

THE DARKNESS make their first headline Irish festival appearance at Daytripper since they topped the bill at Oxegen 2004, the same year they headlined Reading & Leeds Festival playing to 250,000 people across those 3 dates. Justin & the gang are having a love affair with us at the moment, having recorded new album (Last Of Our Kind) on Valentia Isle and recently completing a raucous sold out tour the length and breadth of the country.

The Riptide Movement's third studio Album 'Getting Through' went straight in at No. 1 in the Irish albums chart on its release in 2014. The album included two tracks that match anything released by an Irish band in the last decade; 'All Works Out' which became the anthem of last summer due to sound-tracking the Discover Ireland advert on TV and 'You And I' which was just as good.

The people of Waterford LOVE Smash Hits. Their winning formula is very simple; fully decked out in 90s gear they perform a fun filled and high energy set of 90s dance, pop and R'n'B chart classics. Smash Hits are a throwback to the FEEL-GOOD time of old skool DJs, all night raves and packed out dancefloors and you just know how good they are going to be in front of a pumped up crowd at Daytripper 2015.

The rest of the Daytripper 2015 line-up is completed by Skunk, Thank Funk, Tucan and The Whereabouts on Saturday and the ever present and popular Propeller Palms plus Oasis Tribute (Mad Ferritt) and the Electric Movie Band on Sunday.
