A nine-year-old boy has released a CD paying tribute to his dad.

Liam Walsh from An Caislean Maol in New Ross had the title for his song 'My Daddy and I' in his head for two years and set about writing it earlier this year with his father Willie.

The Johnny Cash fan had a big audience for his live debut in the Brandon House Hotel where many copies of the CD were sold. The fourth class pupil performed nine songs including 'My Daddy and I' which is a heartwarming song about the great bond between a son and his father.

'We are very proud of him,' said his mum Helen.

Liam is kindly donating some of the proceeds from the sale of the CD (which is available to buy in his local shops for €5) to the New Ross-based charity Compassionate Friends, which supports families in which a child has died, and families who have a child with a serious illness.

For more information on the charity visit or call 086 3822624.
