WEXFORD DANCERS LIGHT UP DISNEYLAND PARIS

DAVID MEDCALF

WEXFORD'S Sheila Grace dance company set Disneyland in Paris alight, competing successfully at the 'International Dance and Performing Arts Championships' near Paris.

The hip-hop specialists from St. Joseph's community centre in Bishopswater returned with prizes as the Sirius crew finished second in their event and the Rockets took a magnificent first prize.

All told, more than 50 travelled over land and sea in the Sheila Grace bus from Wexford to France.

The party included 27 young performers, coached by Tara O'Brien and Kelly-Jane Power.

Extra sessions on the dance floor paid off as they competed successfully with groups from as far away as Russia, Canada and the UK.

Afterwards Tara O'Brien thanked everyone who sponsored the five days adventure on the Continent and also pointed to the exploits of dancers who took to the stage in individual competitions.

Alan Kitrell was highly commended for his performance in one of the adult classes, while Sienna Moran and youngest of all Toby Walsh received participant medals.
