A BRILLIANT day's racing took place on the streets of Wexford on Sunday when 16 fine fillies lined up for the annual Charlotte Street Festival panto race.

Run in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation, the race raised a whopping €3,500.

The winner was Killeens Service Station, runner up White's Hotel, with Joyces of Wexford third place.

Organiser Andy Doyle said there was only one faller, Sheridan Insurances, which fell at the first obstacle.

'It was an excellent day and it all went really well,' said Andy.

MCs were Billy Dodd and Tom Dempsey.

Andy said Boyle Sports was the largest single contributor, donating €500, while a fun book raised €550.

The races were followed by a well-attended barbecue at which the nags were well fed and watered for all their efforts.
