1PHIL MURPHY WEEKEND, CARRIG ON BANNOW The 24th annual Phil Murphy weekend takes place from July 23 to July 26. Widely regarded as the best trad and folk event around the county the weekend attracts music lovers to Carrig on Bannow in their droves to celebrate the life of highly acclaimed musician Phil Murphy.

The events kicks off on Thursday with an official opening hosted by songwriter Greg French and Irish Eurovision entrant Molly Sterling in the community Centre. On Friday there will be the Trip to Cullenstown 6kkm road race followed by a performance from Greg and Molly that evening.

On Saturday a number of music workshops will take place followed by a free show by Wexford Pipers and later on the Tritones and Frankie Lane will take to the stage. One of the festival highlights will be a performance on Saturday at 8.30pm by the Kilfenore Ceili Band. Corner Boy, Finbar Furey, Temple Michael Ceili Band and Squawkabout perform on Sunday.

A night of cookery and comedy 

7 COMEDY AND COOKERY. Monaseed National School parents' association will host a fun evening of comedy and cooking in the Amber Springs Hotel on Wednesday night, February 8. On the night three local chefs, Eric Poole, Veronica Redmond and Ben Anderson, will take part in a cook off ably assisted by some local celebrities.
