Ted takes over president's role as new WLOS committee is elected

Wexford Light Opera Society held a very well-attended AGM last week at which a newly committee for the coming season was elected:

President Ted Howlin - three year term, Chairperson Colin Murphy - two year term, Vice Chairperson - Catherine Walsh, Secretary - Eric Hayes, Treasurer - Joanne Flood, PRO - Pat Lawlor, Committee - Yvonne McGuire, Brian Kelly, Emma Doran, Grace O'Brien and Lisa Comiskey. Child Liaison Officer - Tricia Murphy and Asst. Child Liaison Officer - Ruth NicEoin.

The Society hopes to announce it's main Show 2016 soon but in the meantime rehearsals will commence for Hits from the Musicals shortly.

This year for the first time the 'Hits' will be held in Whites Hotel, Wexford - in the heart of the town for the Festival - the Hits will run four consecutive nights from Monday, October 26, through to Thursday, October 29, at a new start time of 8 p.m. Further details will follow. The Society will also be taking part in Culture Night 2015 and the Carrick on Suir Music Theatre Festival in November.

Night at the dogs 

5 GREYHOUND RACE NIGHT CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL FUNDRAISER. The annual Enniscorthy Christmas fundraising night at the dogs takes place this Thursday, September 21, at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track. Gates open at 7 p.m and the first race is at 8 p.m. The event is being organised by Enniscorthy and District Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Enniscorthy Business Association. Song project in Kilmuckridge 

5 LOCAL SONG PROJECT: Traditional singer Aileen Lambert will facilitate a new project focusing on exploring local songs and unaccompanied traditional singing in Kilmuckridge. Starting this Wednesday, September 13 from 7.30 p.m. in Bridie Hammel's Pub this project will take place over the course of a number of weeks. Local songs such as the Tinneaberna Fisherman will be researched and performed as part of the project and at the end a booklet will be produced along with videos featuring local songs and local singers.
