This year the focus of Strawberry Fair will be on cultural and food events.

Strawberries will well and truly be on the menu throughout the festival and home cooks are already busy trying out tasty sweet and savoury recipes with strawberry as the hero of the dish in a bid to be crowned the Taste of Wexford Home Chef.

Anne Gilliken of the Enniscorthy Strawberry Fest said there will also be a Strawberry Pub Talent this year with the final taking place in the Riverside Park Hotel.

'We are also working with the Enniscorthy Show and Nevin Maguire will be hosting two cookery demonstrations there in the showgrounds as well as their agricultural events. We will be working with the All Ireland Farmers Market too which takes place on Saturday and Sunday in the Abbey Square.

'In fact a lot of the music and street entertainment will be located at Abbey Square so that people can enjoy all the events.'

A Strawberry Roots pub trail takes place in the local pubs and there is a CWCW art trail. Our focus this year is on free, family entertainment throughout the festival.' The Focal Festival will run alongside Strawberry Fest.
