WLOS to stage Parton classic

By Esther hayden

Wexford Light Opera Society (WLOS) will take to the stage next year with the high octane 9 to 5 musical.

The hilarious high energy show with music and lyrics from Dolly Parton is based on the 1980 hit movie.

Last Wednesday chairman Colin Murphy announced that the society had selected the show at the well attended AGM. During the AGM the previous season was reviewed and a new committee was elected for the coming year

9 to 5 is a hugely entertaining show with a jubilant score.

Set in the late 1970s, it is a story of friendship and revenge being outrageous, thought provoking and even a little romantic and should have audiences dancing in the aisles.

WLOS welcomes Vivian Coates as director for this production supported by the familiar and hugely successful WLOS team of Fintan Cleary, AIMS Best Musical Director 2016 for Evita, returning as MD.

Nicole McDonald will be choreographer and Eithne Corrigan returns as chorus mistress.

9 to 5 The Musical hits the stage of the National Opera House from April 24 to April 29. An information night will take place after the society's 2017 production of 'Hits from the Musicals' in Clayton Whites Hotel during the Opera Festival. Rehearsals for this will commence shortly.
