It was a 'fantastic Friday' for Wexford racing connections at Kilbeggan on Friday evening last where New Ross jockey, Ben Dalton, rode two winners on the final card of the season at Westmeath track.
His first success came on 33/1 outsider Star Power who won the opportunity handicap hurdle for trainer Des McDonogh. Dalton was certainly a friend of the bookmakers as he followed up on 66/1 shot By The Banks in the beginners' chase for Naas trainer Denis Cullen.
Davidstown trainer Paul Nolan's Illtakeitfromhere (3/1) was brought from last to first under a fine effort form jockey Donagh Meyler to win the 3m1f handicap chase, while Blackwater's Richie Rath saddled Moylisha Tim (12/1) to win the bumper under Enniscorthy jockey, J.J. Slevin.
Elsewhere, two County Wexford-based trainers were among the winners at Downpatrick on Monday of last week. The lengthy journey north was certainly worthwhile for Gorey's Colm Murphy who was on hand as Killiney Court (8/11f) sauntered to success in the opening maiden hurdle under Mikey Fogarty. Kiltealy-based Colin Bowe saddled Don Vincenzo (14/1) to win the 2m5f handicap hurdle under Sean Flanagan and the winner is to go chasing.
