Enniscorthy United still seeking a win

ENNISCORTHY UNITED'S search for a win and a route off the foot of the table continues.

They had a very realistic chance of ending their search on Sunday when they took on fellow strugglers Wexford Celtic, but the Neil O'Sullivan Park men narrowly lost out by three goals to two at Sinnottstown Lane.

A win there would have launched United out of the drop zone but instead it was the hosts who escaped its murky clutches thanks to their first success of the campaign. Philly Cullen, Ciarán Lyng and Billy Martin bagged the goals for Celtic.

Shamrock Rovers and Kilmore United are two sides with slightly greater ambitions and they boosted their cause with a pair of wins last weekend.

Rovers travelled to Adamstown for their set of points. Chris McKeown was the star man as his double saw his side record a 2-1 win to hoist themselves into the top four.

Kilmore United's triumph came on the road as well. Pa Mernagh Park was their destination as they took on Ajax Athletic and a 3-1 victory sees United elbow their way into second place, a point off league leaders St. Leonards. Devin Furlong, Darren Naughton and Garry Moore were the men responsible for the Ballyseskin side's strikes.
