Alan's Fitzgibbon glory
Fitzgibbon Cup medals are a rare enough commodity around these parts, but another was brought home to St. James' territory recently when Alan Walsh featured on the Mary Immaculate (Limerick) squad which retained the title for the first time with a commanding final win over I.T. Carlow in Galway.
The losers, who got to the decider for the first time ever, had two Wexford players on the panel: Rathnure's Michael Redmond who came on in the semi-final, and Michael O'Hanlon of Horeswood.
Other Slaneysiders involved in the lower grades over the weekend out west were Jimmer O'Reilly of Glynn-Barntown and the Garda College, plus Marino Institute of Education duo Donal Kelly (St. Martin's) and Oisín Dunbar (Ballygarrett).
