Another defeat for Inters

Wexford slumped to their third consecutive defeat in the National Camogie League Division 2 at The Harps G.A.A. club in Durrow on Sunday.
Laois 1-15 Wexford 0-5
The Slaneysiders lost a tight one against Kildare in the opener before being beaten in Down two weeks ago, but this game wasn't even close as Laois scorched into a 1-10 to nil interval lead and never looked back.
Things were made difficult for Wexford by the loss of Doireann Kavanagh at centre-back and Margaret Byrne, who was rooted to the Senior team's bench.
Elaine Mahony opened the scoring for Laois in the second minute, a lead that had swelled to four when Síle Burke pointed nine minutes later.
Laois goaled in the 18th minute to move 1-5 to nil ahead and continued to add scores in the remainder of the period to go in 13 points clear. An Ellen Roche free produced the bright start to the second-half that Wexford badly needed.
Another point from Roche from a '45 made it 1-10 to 0-2 before the Naomh Eanna attacker added her third of the half with a stunning point from play.
Roche continued to add scores, first a '45 and then a free, to make it five points in a row for her side.
However, if the third quarter belonged to Wexford, the final 15 minutes saw the advantage switch back to Laois as they scored the last five points to run out 13-point winners.
Next up for Wexford is a home tie on Sunday against Kilkenny, whom they can leap-frog with a victory. The round-robin stages end with another home tie, this time against Carlow, seven days later, although they are already out of contention for a semi-final spot.
