Ballyhogue ground out an impressive victory in horrendous conditions in St Patrick's Park on Saturday afternoon last to take the Enniscorthy District Under-21 football title.

Ballyhogue 2-3 Oylegate-Glenbrien 1-1

The Bree boys kicked eleven wides with the wind in the first half but scored 1-2 to take a five point advantage in at the interval.

Influential midfielder Syl Byrne goaled in the 22nd minute to edge his side ahead at the half as opponents Oylegate-Glenbrien failed to hit the target in the opening period.

A Conor Doyle point finally got Oylegate on the board but when Noel Roche found the net in the 43th minute things were looking good for Ballyhogue.

Barry Dunne brought his side back into the game at the start of the final quarter but when Conor Doyle hit the post a minute later Oylegate's best chance of a turn-around was gone.

Ballyhogue will now face Wexford District winners Wygram Gaels in the Roinn 1 county semi-final in Taghmon on Sunday afternoon.
