The Wexford hurling club in Boston was very proud a few weeks ago when it was announced that one of their former players was appointed captain of the Kilkenny Senior team for the 2016 season.
Shane Prendergast played for a season wearing the purple and gold in Boston at corner-back, and he earned this latest accolade after breaking on to the Kilkenny team in the same position last year and then helping his club, Clara, to county championship honours.
Down through the years the cream of the crop of Kilkenny hurlers like Kieran Joyce, Walter
Walsh and Colin Fennelly have played for the summer in Boston before going on to win All-Irelands with the Noresiders.
