Gavin Buggy and Mikey Berry bowed out of the GAA Handball All-Ireland Senior open doubles at the quarter-final stage as they were beaten by Mayo duo Dessie Keegan and Joe McCann.
In the opening set the Wexford men won 21-19, however they were unable to keep the momentum going in the second set, losing 21-13.
The third set was a bruising encounter and the men from the west just came out on top, winning 21-17.
The Wexford duo had qualified for the quarter-final with a 21-10, 21-16 win over Offaly pair David Hope and Noel Murphy in the last 16 during the previous week but saw their championship come to an end.
Paddy Haughton and Paul Lambert were the winners of an all-Wexford Leinster Junior doubles title during the past week. The Wexford town pair were much the better in the final as they defeated David Kenny and Niall Maher 21-10, 21-16.
It crowned a double of wins in the Junior championships for Lambert as he was crowned the winner of the Leinster Junior singles championships a week earlier.
