Chin fitness test came too late

Wexford Manager Liam Dunne took his team list to the maximum twenty-five players available, leaving No. 26 vacant.
Under rule counties are now required to have their full team lists with Croke Park by 9.am. Thursday morning following which only a change for goalkeeper can be called after the deadline.
When the No. 26 slot was left vacant the rumour mills began rolling. Was it left for Lee Chin? The Faythe Harriers clubman had been trying to overcome a knee ligament injury received in a challenge against Cork.
But the Wexford G.A.A. Office have set the record straight.
'The vacancy was left for no player in particular. It was not left for Lee Chin. When Liam Dunne submitted his list he had just 25 fit players, the remainder ruled out through injury.
'Once the list is supplied to Croke Park it can only be changed for a goalkeeper.
'Apparently, Lee (Chin) had a fitness test on Thursday evening with medical people passing him fit but by then it was too late for the team list,' said County Secretary, Margaret Doyle.
It was somewhat of a miraculous recovery for Lee for when diagnosed with medial knee ligament damage at Santry Sports Clinic on Thursday, May 12, he was looking at four weeks recuperation.
