A lost Wexford side fell to a heavy defeat against Dublin in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship quarter-finals at Croke Park on Sunday evening.

Dublin 2-19 Wexford 0-12

The Slaneysiders looked devoid of ideas in the second half against a Metropolitans side that cruised through the contest without ever needing to hit top gear.

Wexford stayed with their opponents in the opening quarter, even leading 0-5 to 0-4 after three Conor McDonald points in the the first sixteen minutes.

However, when Eamon Dillon hared away to net, Dublin hit the front and Liam Dunne's side faltered. The lead was five when Wexford were caught with a sucker punch right before the break when Dara O'Connell cut in from the right and fired past Conor O'Leary to make it 2-10 to 0-8 at the interval.

There was a mini-revival after the change-around with Wexford scoring four of the first six points to close within two goal (2-12 to 0-12). However, the game petered out in a final quarter that saw the Slaneysiders fail to register again.
