While Good Counsel continue to fly the flag proudly in the top flight, just one of the three Wexford schools in action survived the South Leinster Senior football 'B' championship quarter-final minefield last week.

The sole victors were St. Mary's C.B.S. of Enniscorthy who pipped Mountrath C.S. by 1-9 to 1-8 on Friday to stay on course for a possible unique double, as many of the players are also part of the school's Senior rugby team which has reached the McMullen Cup final.

Twenty-four hours earlier the other two Wexford schools made their respective exits at the quarter-final stage, experiencing contrasting fortunes in the process.

F.C.J. (Bunclody) gave Naas C.B.S. a decent test before succumbing by 2-13 to 2-10, but Gorey C.S. were no match for Coláiste Iosagáin from Portarlington and lost by 4-11 to 1-4.
