Wexford delivered their expected easy victory when comfortably accounting for Antrim with twelve points to spare in this Bord Gais All-Ireland Under-21 hurling championship semi-final at Semple Stadium, Thurles, on Saturday afternoon.

Wexford 1-20 Antrim 1-8

Wexford have qualified for their second successive final but now realise that it is going to take character coupled with hurling skills to dispose of an impressive Limerick outfit, who dealt Galway a a six point defeat thus denying the westerners a possible hurling grand slam.

From what was a mediocre game, the one real highlight was the model county's solitary goal. Conor McDonald who set up a marvellous Cathal Dunbar goal in the provincial semi-final defeat of Offaly, a score that went viral, was at it again, as an impudent flick pass, with his back to the inrushing Conor Devitt, led to the Ballyfad man shooting a delightful second half goal.

At half-time Wexford led 0-8 to 0-3, but shot a massive total of thirteen wides during this period, which was followed by a further seven second half wides, in a wayward display of finishing, something they will be conscious as the prepare for the final on September 12 in Semple Stadium.

Antrim had shocked Wexford at this stage of the championship two years back, but there was never going to be a repeat, as the model county were in total control right through the sixty minutes, as they strolled to the most comfortable of victories.

Wexford's leading scorer was Conor McDonald with 0-7, 4 frees, 1 sideline, 1 '65, while midfielder Conor Devitt chipped in with an impressive 1-2. Man of the Match, Tony French, who was a starter in midfield for the injured Gavin Bailey finished with a personal tally of 0-3.
