Wexford's grip on the Leinster Intermediate hurling title was comfortably loosened by Galway in O'Moore Park, Portlaoise on Wednesday, July 15.

Galway 1-20 Wexford 0-11

The westerners bossed proceedings from the off and led by 1-9 to 0-3 at the break, with the Wexford points coming from Joe Kelly frees in the third, 15th and 20th minutes.

Although there was an improvement in the second-half, a straight red card for centre-forward John Leacy in the 34th minute left Galway with a numerical advantage as they eased their way to an All-Ireland final clash with holders Cork.

Wexford scorers: Joe Kelly 0-8 (6 frees), Jim Berry, Tommy Dwyer and Michael O'Hanlon 0-1 each.
