The life of a Gaelic games enthusiast will be recalled in fitting manner on Saturday, May 23, when the Glynn-Barntown club hosts the first Michael Laffan Memorial hurling tournament.
Over 300 players in the Under-10 and Under-11 grades will take part in the event which honours the memory of the late father of Garry Laffan, Wexford's last All-Ireland Senior-winning full-forward in 1996.
A total of 19 teams from Carlow, Kildare, Offaly, Dublin and of course Wexford will be involved in this inter-county club tournament which necessitates a high level of organising on behalf of the committee in charge.
The action will get under way at 10 a.m. with the groups as follows -
Under-10 Blue: Glynn-Barntown, Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin), O'Loughlin Gaels (Kilkenny), Naomh Bríd (Carlow).
Under-10 Green: Buffers Alley, Naas (Kildare), Dicksboro (Kilkenny), Setanta (Carlow).
Under-11 Purple: Glynn-Barntown Green, Kilmacud Crokes, O'Loughlin Gaels, Mount Leinster Rangers (Carlow).
Under-11 Gold: St. Fintan's (Wexford), Naas, Dicksboro, Kilcormac-Killoughey (Offaly).
Under-11 Red: Glynn-Barntown Blue, Kevin's (Dublin), Dicksboro.
There will be no finals or scores recorded as per Go Games rules, with a feast of hurling and fun in store to remember the late Mickey Laffan in the best possible manner.
