John Lacey fired Glynn-Barntown to a hard fought victory over Rapparees in the Pettitt's Senior Hurling Championship at Oylegate on Sunday evening last.
Glynn-Barntown 0-11 Rapparees 1-6
The talented hitman scored ten of his clubs eleven points including the winning two in added time to secure the first win for the Killurin club in this championship season.
Rapparees began the game on the front foot. A Tomas Mahon free was added to when Kevin Foley ran at the Glynn defence, fed James Peare and he fired past county goalkeeper Mark Fanning to the net. However, Rapps managed just one more point in the first half, despite playing with the elements at their backs.
The Wexford District side trailed by just a point at half-time (1-2 to 0-4) but where level soon after the restart. Both the victors and the Rapparees led by two points during the second period but it was a Lacey inspired Glynn-Barntown that had the advantage when it mattered.
