However, with all of the accurate forward's scores coming from placed balls, the losers will be left to rue their ill-discipline as a major factor in their downfall.
The Farmleigh-based side must have felt that they were in for a much more fruitful day early on as they notched up the first five points inside seven minutes.
Aided by a tactical change which saw Colin Power advance to a more attacking role, Davidstown-Courtnacuddy began to come back into the game.
Dunbar knocked over two frees and James Doyle levelled with a goal in the 16th minute when he got on the end of a Power handpass before finishing into the bottom left corner.
Dunbar was on target three more times before the interval while Marshalstown-Castledockrell kept the score tight through Frank Kelly and Mitch Jordan. They trailed by 1-5 to 0-7 at the halfway stage.
The second period was largely dominated by Davidstown-Courtnacuddy, and again Dunbar was free scoring. Greg Jacob and Power also got in on the act from frees during the half which meant that all of the victors' points came from dead balls.
Marshalstown-Castledockrell could only muster two points in the second-half, both courtesy of Jordan in the 42nd and 44th minutes.
Davidstown-Courtnacuddy closed out the game as comfortable five-point winners and sent a dejected Marshalstown-Castledockrell side down to the Junior football championship for next year.
