Minors manage good win over Offaly
Wexford picked up their first victory on the field in the Leinster Minor camogie championship with an impressive win over previously unbeaten Offaly in Ferns on Sunday.
Wexford 2-12 Offaly 2-10
The Slaneysiders were dogged against Kilkenny in their first outing but fell behind early and could never quite pull themselves all the way back. The hosts were losing in this one too but they kept plugging away and eventually came out as winners.
Points from Chloe Foxe and Noelene Shanahan helped Wexford into a 0-2 to 0-1 lead but the Faithful ladies hit the front when the dangerous Sarah Harding found the net in the eleventh minute.
Foxe and Sarah O'Connor brought the hosts level before dead ball specialist Foxe and Oonagh Doyle, after great work by Una Sinnott, fired Wexford into the lead once again.
A Leah Walsh point, that came with an assist from Shauna Kelly, plus points for Foxe and Shanahan put Wexford 0-9 to 1-5 in front approaching the break, and things got even better when Shanahan found the net in added time.
However, Offaly hit back through Terri Delaney and pulled level at half-time (1-9 to 2-6). Three Foxe frees kept Wexford in the game but when Mairéad Jennings added her seventh point with five minutes remaining, the visitors led by one (2-10 to 1-12).
Yet, there was one moment of magic left for Wexford and it came with just two minutes left when Oonagh Doyle beat Shannon Tuohy between the Offaly sticks to give James Flynn's side the victory their hard work and quality deserved.
Next up for Wexford is a trip to the capital on Sunday to face a Dublin side which has yet to taste victory in this campaign, having lost to Kilkenny and Offaly already. The Slaneysiders will be looking for victory to keep their hopes of making the Leinster final alive.

At half-time in the Senior camogie All-Ireland semi-final in Nowlan Park on Saturday, four members of the Under-15 development squad participated in the Camán and Run competition.
This is a skills relay race, where the girls had to carry the sliothar on their hurley for 40 metres and then handpass it to their colleague and so on. The first team to get its four members across the finish line would be the winners.
Eight counties participated and the Wexford team featured Emma Sinnott, Orla Fortune, Saoirse Kenny and Nora Higgins.
Cheered on by their team-mates in the stand, they actually held a slight lead for a time. Unfortunately, the long day had its effect on them and they finished in fourth position, with just seconds between then and first place. Well done girls.
