Minors miss out on possible final place

Wexford potentially missed out on a place in the Leinster Minor camogie championship final after they were held to a draw by Dublin in Parnells G.A.A. club, Coolock on Sunday.
Wexford 2-8 Dublin 1-11
The Slaneysiders needed victory to force a three-way tie with Offaly and Kilkenny on top of the round-robin table and guarantee at least a play-off spot, but they were halted by a Dublin side which had previously been on the wrong end of one-sided scorelines against the two finalists.
It was a disappointing result for Wexford who seemed to be lacking the edge and enthusiasm that they showed when stunning Offaly last time out to put them in this situation. They now must make do with a shield final against the Metropolitans, which is provisionally set for September 20.
Una Sinnott got Wexford off to the perfect start with a fifth-minute point but Dublin hit back immediately through Catherine Costello. County Senior Sinnott then scored the point of the afternoon from the wing only for the hosts to lead by 0-3 to 0-2 after the first quarter.
Things took a turn for the better for James Flynn's side when Ellen Roche and Noelene Shanahan combinded to release Shauna Kelly who handpassed to Emma Loo's net.
The same player repeated the feat in the 27th minute to make it 2-2 to 0-4 for the visitors.
Oonagh Doyle notched a nice point for the visitors but a free from Ellen McGovern, followed by an Amy Conroy goal, gave Dublin the momentum going in at half-time (2-3 to 1-5).
A brace from Chloe Foxe in the third quarter wasn't enough to keep Wexford ahead as their opponents drew level. Foxe and Laura Dempsey eased their side 2-7 to 1-8 ahead for the fourth time but Dublin hit back to level again and equalised in the final minute through Conroy.
Chloe Foxe must have thought she had done enough to win it with an added-time free but Wexford were hit with a sucker punch right at the death as Conroy converted a dead ball to send the Slaneysiders crashing into the shield final.
