Monageer-Boolavogue 1-6, STARLIGHTS 1-5: Monageer-Boolavogue made it two narrow victories from two outings in Group A of the Enniscorthy Farm Systems Junior football championship in Bree on Sunday when a goal in the third quarter ultimately edged them past Starlights by the minimum margin.
The town team were the early pace-setters and picked off three quick points before former county Minor Dillon Redmond attacked from his half-back slot and rattled the net.
And although Matthew Dunne and Paddy Breen got Monageer-Boolavogue off the mark, Starlights still led by 1-4 to 0-3 at the break with Eamonn Furlong (two), Conor and Brian Ronan picking off their points.
Monageer-Boolavogue narrowed the gap to two on the re-start with points from Conal Nolan and Dunne before Seán Murphy got the all-important goal which edged their noses in front.
And with neither side managing a score in the last ten minutes, Starlights were left frustrated as they didn't build on their first round derby victory over Shamrocks.
