Taghmon-Camross cruised past Craanford on Saturday in their Lodgewood Engineering Intermediate football championship Group A encounter. At an overcast St. Patrick's Park, the southern county men had the elements in their favour first and they certainly took full advantage of it.

Taghmon-Camross 6-10 Craanford 1-7

Seamie McLoughlin stood out for Taghmon-Camross throughout. He began his tally within the opening ten seconds.

McLoughlin bagged a point and with the aid of Richie Comerford, he then raised the green flag, giving his men a spirited opening to the game. Stevie Greene retaliated at the opposite end of the pitch with placed balls but consistent shooting from the two McLoughlins, Jason and Seamie, kept the umpires beside Bob Flynn busy.

Matthew Nolan battled hard to win a penalty and talented forward, Stevie Greene, comfortably blasted the ball to the back of the net. This brought an inspirational burst to Craanford with Des Kavanagh claiming their first point from play.

The notorious Seamie McLoughlin dominated the Craanford defence though and Richie Comerford did likewise as he also found the back of the net.

Craanford's dual Minor star, Tony Kavanagh, combined his speed and skill to swiftly secure an excellent point from an extremely acute angle. Alas, this was shortlived and the second-half imitated the first with Taghmon-Camross easily hitting the Craanford goal netting.

Jason and Seamie McLoughlin were, once again, the main culprits. Ian Carty was also a successful candidate in claiming a goal. Stevie Greene soon replied by pointing placed balls but Stephen O'Gorman quickly cancelled his efforts after a well-judged kick over the crossbar.

Des Kavanagh and McLoughlin exchanged frees before Ger Lyons claimed Craanford's final score.

Taghmon-Camross, however, ended as they began. Pierce Doyle broke the defence line as well as Seamie McLoughlin for the last time. This saw the green flag being raised on two more occasions and Craanford with a serious deficit at full-time.
