Registration issue weakened in Wexford

Seen and Heard

Some of the eagle-eyed among you might have noticed a lack of players from several Wexford clubs, notably St. Martin's, Rathnure and Duffry Rovers, on the Senior camogie team which succumbed to Offaly on the weekend before last.

This was down to teething problems within the new online registration system. The Camogie Association unveiled their new payment method through Servasport back in March and it required members and clubs to be registered through an online payment system that went through mega-company Paypal.

However, these payments needed three days to clear in the system before a player can compete and be officially registered, otherwise, for insurance reasons, the risk of said player taking part was too high.

It all meant that the likes of Lisa and Linda Bolger, Marie Claire Morrissey, Deirdre Codd, Eimear O'Connor, Marie Morrissey and Louise O'Leary all missed out. Wexford lost the game despite putting out an otherwise full-strength line-up, 1-14 to 0-10. No further registration problems are anticipated going forward.
