Substitute Kevin 'Shelly' Roche was the Buffers Alley saviour in Bellefield on Saturday, May 9, when his injury time goal earned a draw with Ferns St. Aidan's in a high octane Pettitt's Senior hurling championship Group B clash.

Buffers Alley 3-14 Ferns St Aidan's 1-20

The Alley were the sharper side in the first-half and led at the break by 2-10 to 0-10 after a brace of goals from Tomas O'Leary.

Ian Byrne had kept Ferns in touch with eight points, six from frees, and his goal in the 37th minute gave his side added momentum.

Three unanswered points early in the last quarter pushed them ahead, and the Alley lost goalscorer Tomas O'Leary to a second yellow card.

Ferns looked to have done enough for their first win until Roche raced through for a sensational equalising goal 20 seconds into the two and a half minutes of added time played.

Ferns St. Aidan's: Ian Byrne 1-14 (0-12 frees), Jonny Dwyer 0-2, Gavin Bailey, Benny Jordan, Christopher O'Connor, Tommy Dwyer 0-1 each.

Buffers Alley: Tomas O'Leary 2-2, Andrew Kenny 0-5 (2 frees), Keith Burke 0-4 frees, Kevin Roche 1-0, Shane Grannell, Pat Kenny, Bobby Kenny 0-1 each.
