'Tex' in our thoughts

THE THOUGHTS of the G.A.A. public around the county are with Robert 'Tex' Byrne and family from Enniscorthy as we write at Monday lunchtime.
One of the great characters of the sport and a lively and likeable presence around Bellefield, Robert is in hospital after receiving serious injuries in an accident at his home.
He has the best wishes of his many friends and acquaintances, as there's no better man to crack a joke or have a laugh with at a hurling or football game.
A former player with the Rapparees and Starlights, he is a son of Larry Byrne who was one of the best players to emerge from the Cathedral town during the 1960s and is still an active worker in Bellefield.
