Geraldine O'Hanranhans bounced back from an inauspicious start to the Joyces Expert Intermediate 'A' football championship campaign when they recorded a comfortable Group B victory over first round winners St. Patrick's in St. Patrick's Park, Enniscorthy, on Saturday.

The Barrowsiders never looked back after the perfect start which yielded a Junior Somers goal inside one minute after a strong burst forward by Matt Crowdle.

Shane Roche, introduced as a substitute in the heavy defeat to Duffry Rovers, was in very accurate form and the Geraldines fully deserved to be comfortably ahead at the break (1-7 to 0-2).

Roche and Wexford colleague Kieran Butler made it 1-9 to 0-3 early in the new half before Tomás Morris, Tommy Morris and John Doyle pulled back points to give the Ballyoughter side hope.

However, it was quickly undone as the New Ross men wrapped up victory with two goals in the space of three minutes.

Barry Kelly finished a Kieran Butler crossfield delivery for the first, and Shane Roche capitalised on a goalkeeping mistake to set up Junior Somers for his second before a frustrated St. Patrick's were reduced to 14 players.
