Bunclody continued their winning streak in the Lodgewood Engineering Intermediate football championship Group A on Sunday at an overcast St. Patrick's Park, Enniscorthy as they comfortably disposed of Taghmon-Camross.
HWH-Bunclody 2-14 Taghmon-Camcross 1-8
Racing to secure the first score within the opening minute, the determined Pierce Doyle of Taghmon-Camross claimed a point, helping his side ease into proceedings. Bunclody responded quickly through Kevin Dunne who levelled matters during the following minute.
From here on, Bunclody built up a convincing lead, as Darren Kehoe claimed his first point before Colm Farrell ripped through the defence to pound the ball to the back of the net.
The free-takers on each side, Darren Kehoe and Seamie McLoughlin, exchanged points before Bunclody surged further clear. James Moorhead, Keith O'Hara and the two Kehoes, Darren and Barry, all grabbed points to give their unit an eleven-point lead.
In retaliation, Seamie McLoughlin stood up to the mark for Taghmon-Camross once again with a free before a high ball from Barry O'Gorman found Pierce Doyle who drilled it past the Bunclody goalkeeper.
Darren Colfer and Nolan fought tremendously well for Taghmon-Camross throughout. Nevertheless, Bryan O'Hara concluded first-half proceedings with a point from a placed ball, leaving five between them at the break.
Bunclody never lost their lead throughout the second period. It increased with the aid of Kehoe and Steven Finn after fine catches from Seán Kenny. Although Seamie McLoughlin steadily knocked over a couple of points after fouls on his colleagues, his efforts seemed almost insignificant as Bunclody's fighting spirit prospered.
Barry Kehoe featured alongside Aidan Nolan who claimed three points between them.
The dying moments were dominated by Bunclody who played up to their battling reputation. Pierce Doyle and Seán Kenny swapped a point each before Darren Kehoe broke past the Taghmon-Camross back line to provide a goal for Bunclody and end the match on a supreme high for his side.
