Wexford blew a nine-point second half lead against Tipperary in the opening round of the Lidl Ladies National Football League at St Patrick's Park on Sunday afternoon.

Tipperary 4-10 Wexford 2-10

Anthony Masterson's side were in superb form in the first half, leading 0-9 to 1-4 despite a missed Fiona Rochford penalty. That lead swelled further when two Clara Donnelly goals before the break left Wexford in control.

The advantage was nine after newcomer Aisling Murphy pointed in the 33rd minute. However, Wexford didn't score again and three Tipp goals in the last three minutes condemned the hosts to defeat.

Wexford do not have to wait long to get the chance to bounce back from this disappointing result. They host Offaly next Sunday at 2pm (venue TBC).
