A Marcella Cullen goal, less than a minute into the second half, propelled Wexford to victory against Roscommon in their second outing in this seasons Lidl LGFA National Football League Division 3 campaign at Ballygarrett on Sunday afternoon.

Wexford 1-14 Roscommon 1-6

Wexford already led 0-9 to 0-2 after a superb first half with the breeze but Cullen raced through from Maria Byrne's pass to smack the Slaneysiders into a winning position that they were never likely to give up.

Catriona Murray was on target four times in the opening half, while Fiona Rochford (2), Roisin Murphy, Cullen and Clara Donnelly were also on target as Wexford set about adding another three points to their win over Down last weekend.

Following Cullen's strike seconds after the interval, Roscommon had their best spell of the game to pull it back to 1-9 to 0-5 but Wexford were able to survive a missed Murray spot-kick late on as points from the penalty taker herself (2), Rochford (2) and Donnelly gave the hosts victory. Wexford will welcome Tipperary next week in a bid to close in on a semi-final place in Division 3.
