Clonard girls on duty for the county

HISTORY has been made at Clonard Ladies Football Club, where a record number of players have made it on to County teams. Managers and mentors at the club are delighted not only with the achievement, but also with the knock-on effect of having girls competing at county level.
Club Secretary, Suzanne Brennan, says that ' it is to the club's advantage to have these girls are attending county training as they bring back new skills and training routines to their teammates'.
In total six players from all age groups have secured places on county teams. However, that number is expected to be revised upwards as Tara Foley, Niamh Tormey, Allanah Anglim. Chelsea Pitman, Simone Kemp and Clara O'doherty are still currently attending trials for a place on the Under 12 county squad.
Rebecca Foley, Leanne Brennan and Clodagh Downes will represent Clonard at U16 level. Rebecca already has one All Ireland Medal to her name to show for her excellent work as part of the 2010 All Ireland winning Wexford Under 14 team. Similarly, Leanne and Clodagh are no strangers to the county set up having played at Under 12 level two years ago.
Rianna Jarett and Danielle Chin have both secured spots on the county minor team. This year marks Danielle's debut at county level. Rianna has previously formed part of the County Under 14 and Under 16 teams.
One of Clonard's most experienced players, Aoife Tormey, played a very important role in securing an All Ireland Title for the county minor team in 2010. Aoife is a very versatile and talented player and has captained Clonard winning teams since she was eleven. And she has also secured a Soccer Scholarship in Waterford Institute of Technology.
Shauna Gleeson represented her club well last year with the senior team. However, due to an injury this year she will have to abstain from county duties.
