Well done to Andrew Moore, Fran Cleary, David Mooney and Paul Gannon who lined out for Wexford in the inter-District Shield final loss to New Ross on Friday last, with Andrew scoring a cracking goal. Billy Dodd was a mentor with the team.
Well done also to Jack Robinson on winning another Leinster boxing title at the weekend, and to Jas Kirwan who was honoured by the Seana Ghael committee on Sunday last along with three others who were former members - Joe Brennan, Con Malone and Jimmy Whelan.
Last week's quiz: The club was founded at a meeting on Saturday, November 2, 1907, in the Temperance Hall, Francis Street.
This week's question: The 1970s were a barren decade for the club in terms of representation on the county Senior team. Only one Sarsfields player lined out in the Leinster Senior championship, with another four featuring in either league or O'Byrne Cup. How many of them can you name?

SHELMALIERS
The Minor Football team achieved history on Sunday last as they became the first team to win four consecutive Byrne Cup titles with a hard-fought one-point victory over Starlights in Killurin. Thanks to some brilliant defending and a great display of goalkeeping by Shane Birney, 0-6 to 0-5 was the final score.
The Shels lads started the better, with A.J. Lehane, James Gordon and Glen Murphy being particularly dominant. However, as the half wore on the Enniscorthy men came much more into the game and, thanks mainly to Shane Birney, Páraic O'Leary, Niall Murphy and Shane Griffith in the Shels rearguard, the teams went in level at halftime.
A soft penalty was awarded soon after the re-start. However, like so often in the past, Shane Birney again saved the day with a brilliant flying stop. This proved to be the turning point as both James Gordon and A.J. Lehane added points to the Shels tally and, despite some late scares, the Shels men retained their Byrne Cup crown.
Best for the Shels were Shane Birney, Páraic O'Leary, Shane Griffith, Aidan Cash and John Campbell. Well done to all.
Best of luck to André O'Brien, Mullinagore, Castlebridge, who is on the county Under-21 football team that will meet Louth in Dowdallshill this Saturday at 2.30 p.m. in the first round of the Leinster championship. André, who plays in the wing-back position, has been progressing well on this team.

With the opening of the Pat Murphy All Weather Arena in Páirc Charman, the selectors in charge of the Under-14 and Under-12 hurling teams combined forces to organise an in-house tournament over the past number of weeks. The tournament commenced in November last year and over 40 children participated in the leagues.
They came to a conclusion last Sunday week, with the Shield final and the Cup final, with the presentation of medals and trophies taking place afterwards. The children were divided into four teams at the start of the league - Dublin, captained by Niall Connick, Galway who were led by Daniel Curran, Wexford who had Adam McDaid at the helm, and Tipperary whose captain was Niall Ó Donnagáin.
The games were played over eight weeks and, after the snow earlier on in January, the semi-finals and finals got under way. Of course, the emphasis was solely on participation and enjoyment and this was clearly evident as the number of players for each team that turned up each week in the cold and wet weather was great to see.
The beauty of playing the game in the Pat Murphy arena is that the game only stops for scores as there are no sidelines, no wides and the children love playing on it. The medals, trophies, shield and cup were all sponsored by Tony and Ann Walsh and were presented by Dean Walsh, grandson of the late Pat Murphy.
The following trophies were presented: the man of the match in the Cup final was Stephen Kearney, the man of the match in the Shield final was Adam McDaid, the best goalkeeper was Danny Walsh, the best defender was Páuric Clancy, the best midfielder was Daniel Lynch, the best forward was Matthew Murphy, while every participant in the competition also received a medal.
The club would especially like to thank Tony and Ann for their kind sponsorship and all the parents of the children who attended the games for their continuous support. A great time was had by all the youngsters who took part. Many thanks to the Sarsfields club for the use of their excellent new clubhouse facilities afterwards for the presentation ceremony.
Indoor training for all adult members, from Senior, Junior, Under-21 and down to Minor, has now re-commenced and takes place every Wednesday and Friday at 7.30 p.m. Training is in the form of circuit training, so anyone training should ensure they wear runners. Any enquiries and details from the espective selectors: Senior, Joe Kearns (086-3856361), Junior A, Colin Keeling (087-6550537), Junior D, Nicky Keeling (086-0832120) and Under-21, Jason Giltrap (087-9533073).
The club's new state of the art, all-weather floodlit arena is open for business and is now available for bookings. Anybody interested in booking an hour on the arena should contact any of the club officers or ring 085-2450136. A number of slots are still available every week. The arena is approximately 80 metres by 40 metres and is available for hire for a full pitch length or for smaller groups in smaller areas going across the arena.
The Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport course takes place on Thursday, February 18, in the Talbot Hotel, starting at 6.15 p.m. It is recommended that all under-age selectors partake in this course. Any queries should be directed to Eoin Ó Donnagáin at 086-3873544.
The club website is being updated on at least a weekly basis at the moment. If anybody has any articles or photos etc. which they feel could be published on the website, they should contact Richard Murphy. The website can be viewed at www.faytheharriers.com. At the moment, the website contains weekly notes, weekly lotto results, various photos from recent events and details of the all-weather arena schedule.
