Killenagh bow out
KILLENAGH WANDERERS were Wexford's last representatives in the Leinster Junior Cup, and they bowed out at the semi-final stage to a very young and fit St. Joseph's Girls from Dublin.
Played on a very fast surface, Killenagh were well in contention until disaster struck when influential defender Tracey Byrne broke her ankle in an accidental collision. The match was delayed for 20 minutes as a result and it took Killenagh time to get back into the rhythm of the game.
It was in this period that the Dublin visitors scored the only goal. Killenagh did all possible to get back on level terms, but the D.W.S.L. side did enough to hold on and go through to the final by the narrowest of margins.
Everyone involved in Wexford soccer would like to wish Tracey a speedy recovery from her serious injury which marred what was a very closely-contested match.
