Murphy's lead London parade
Wednesday March 17 2010
IN BRILLIANT sunshine, Fr. Murphy's ladies' football and camogie club again led the city's St. Patrick's Day parade.
They were in the company of the Minister for State, John Curran T.D., the Deputy Mayor of London, Richard Barnes, and the Irish Ambassador to Britain, Bobby McDonagh.
It was a great event, watched by hundereds of thousands of people who lined the streets, finishing up with a free concert in the city's Trafalgar Square.
Fr. Murphy's are now down to the serious business of training for the football and camogie championships. They have nine players on the London camogie Panel who are in a play-off for a league final spot, and they also have several new players joining them this year, in both football and camogie.
In conjunction with St. Mary's University Hurling Club, the Fr. Murphy's are holding a race night in The Garryowen in Twickenham on Friday, March 26, at 8 p.m. to raise some badly-needed funds. All support would be gratefully received.
