New coaches organise mid-term games blitz

Wednesday February 22 2012

PARTICIPANTS ON a new G.A.A. coaching and administration course in Wexford V.T.O.S. organised a Gaelic games blitz for over 360 children in Bellefield during the mid-term break and will continue to do so in schools around the county in the coming weeks.

These coaches began the course last September and are currently studying every aspect of running a G.A.A. club from adult and youth coaching to secretarial work and club accounts. As part of their coaching programme they have been coaching in primary schools all over the county each week under the auspices of Wexford G.A.A. County Board.

By the end of June, the 16 G.A.A. coaches who come from all over the county will graduate with a full FETAC Level Five award in G.A.A. youth and adult coaching and administration.

As a result they will be among the highest qualified G.A.A. coaches in the country with no less than eight coaching certificates in hurling and football with an option of building on this by continuing to a higher level in the coming year.

Anyone interested in participating in this programme in the next roll-out should contact Wexford V.T.O.S. This is a Wexford V.E.C. course and is open to men and women. For more information contact Ann Slaven at 05391-46188.
